What's In It For Me
This program is designed to meet Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF)'s requirements for Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) members.
The CERT First Aid (Basic First Aid with CPR+AED) course equips participants with essential life-saving skills required under the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) guidelines for Company Emergency Response Teams (CERT). Following updates to the Fire Safety Act, more types of premises are now required to set up CERTs—making this training increasingly relevant across industries.
This course delivers a strong foundation in first aid for medical emergencies, with hands-on practice in CPR and AED use. Delivered in an engaging classroom format, it ensures participants gain the confidence and competence to respond effectively in real emergencies at the workplace.
Course Overview
At the end of the course the trainees will be able to:
- Identify the underlying causes of different types of injuries
- Administer basic immediate first aid before medical help arrives
- Manage Foreign Body Airway Obstruction (FBAO) for conscious adults
- Perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Mode of Assessment
Theory Assessment
Participants will have to complete 20 Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQ) test and need to score at least 80% (16/20) to successfully pass the course.
If a participant fails the theory assessment, the participant will be given 1 more attempt at the theory assessment.
Practical Assessment
Participants will need to demonstrate that they are competent in the skills of CPR+AED.
If a participant fails the practical assessment, the participant will be given up to 2 more attempts at the practical assessment.

- Individuals keen in learning first aid skills and knowledge

Certification Obtained and Conferred by
CPR+AED is accredited by Singapore Resuscitation and First Aid Council (SRFAC)
Pre-requisites
- Able to speak, read and understand English effectively
- No medical heart and lung conditions or any physical disabilities and injuries that will prevent the participant from performing CPR
